Inter-Ontario (formerly Superior Slag) is uniquely located at the hub of the Great Lakes in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario on the border with our sister city Sault Ste. Marie Michigan. Formerly owned by brothers Richard and Michael Prpich Jr. It was founded by the late Mike Prpich Sr. in 1964.
Slag is used for road building, improving drainage, weeping tile beds, road resurfacing and rip rap for shore protection. It’s also used exclusively for all sewer and water projects in Sault Ste. Marie.
SLAG PROCESSING
We process and sell blast furnace slag from Algoma Steel. Sized to; minus 1/4 inch, 1/4 X 7/16 clear (34CS), minus 7/8 (22A), 3/4 X 2 7/8 (Nut), and Pit Run. We have the ability to customize the sizes if a customer requires. Inter-Ontario has facilities to load Great Lakes vessels, barges, trucks or rail cars.
SCREENING
We screen various BOF slags, coke tailings, and by-products such as Kish and other iron bearing materials. We have the same capabilities for loading these products as we do for slag products.
EQUIPMENT RENTALS
We have equipment available for both operated and unoperated short and long term rentals. Our units range from loaders 906 to 992 size. Dozers from D3 to D9 size. Excavators from 305 to 345 size. We also have scrap handling cranes and mobile scrap shears.
TRANSPORTATION
We provide transport float service available to move any size equipment. We can also provide flat bed and dump trailer service.
